Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver creative, differentiated, and accessible lessons to KS2 pupils with diverse SEN profiles.
  • Develop personalised learning plans aligned with EHCPs and work closely with the SENCO and wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Foster a trauma-informed, inclusive classroom environment that promotes emotional wellbeing and resilience.
  • Use a range of assessment tools to monitor and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning goals.
  • Contribute to behaviour management strategies and ensure safeguarding is central to all practices.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues to support holistic development.

Must-Have Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching KS2 pupils, ideally in an SEN or SEMH setting
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP implementation
  • Ability to deliver tailored, engaging lessons that support both academic and personal growth
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A nurturing, resilient, and collaborative approach

Good to Have:

  • Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and trauma-informed education
  • Familiarity with Zones of Regulation, nurture principles, or Thrive approach
  • Understanding of augmentative communication tools (e.g. Makaton, PECS)
  • Positive behaviour support or de-escalation training (e.g. Team Teach, MAPA)
  • Experience collaborating with TAs, therapists, and families to drive student progress
