Learning Support Assistant - SEN School
Location: Ely, Cambridgeshire
Contract: Long-Term Supply
About the Role:
Simply Education is working closely with a warm and welcoming Special Educational Needs (SEN) school that is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support pupils with a range of learning and developmental needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and complex needs.
This is a highly rewarding position where no two days are the same. You will play a crucial role in helping young learners overcome barriers to learning by offering academic, emotional, and behavioural support-either on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils with additional needs in and outside the classroom
- Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering differentiated activities
- Promoting positive behaviour and supporting students' emotional regulation
- Helping with personal care, where necessary (training provided)
- Monitoring progress and reporting back to teachers and SEN staff
About You:
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- A genuine passion for working with children with SEN
- Some experience in a similar role (school, residential, care, or youth work preferred)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to working with children
- Willingness to undertake relevant training (e.g. Team Teach, safeguarding)
Requirements:
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- 2 professional references
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Full UK driving license
