Qualified Maths Teacher - Stoke-on-Trent

Location: Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire Salary: Paid to scale (M1-M6) Job Type: Full-time

About the Role

Simply Education are working in partnership with an Ofsted-rated Good secondary school in the Stoke-on-Trent area. The school is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Maths teacher to join its thriving Mathematics department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons in Mathematics across KS3 and KS4.

  • Teach according to students' educational needs, including setting and marking work.

  • Assess, record, and report on progress, development, and attainment.

  • Provide oral and written feedback, reports, and references for individuals and groups.

  • Ensure a high-quality learning experience that meets internal and external standards.

  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work, resources, and teaching strategies.

  • Use varied teaching methods to meet diverse student needs and curriculum demands.

  • Maintain discipline and encourage high standards of behaviour, punctuality, and homework.

  • Undertake assessments as required by examination bodies and school procedures.

  • Implement school policies on behaviour, safeguarding, and attendance.

  • Work closely with parents and carers, valuing their contributions to student success.

  • Address Child Protection concerns swiftly and in line with policy.

  • Communicate regularly and effectively with colleagues to support academic and personal development.

  • Foster a respectful culture among students and care for the school environment.

  • Collaborate with Creative Education Trust colleagues and contribute to trust-wide initiatives.

Key Skills & Qualities

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics and a passion for numeracy.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Adaptability to meet a wide range of student needs.

  • Effective behaviour and classroom management techniques.

  • Empathy and patience, especially when supporting learners with additional needs.

Essential Requirements

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Experience teaching Mathematics in line with the national curriculum.

  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN).

  • Commitment to inclusive education.
