Nurture Teacher

Job description

Nurture Teacher - Secondary SEMH School

Location: Crewe
Contract: Full-time
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Start Date: as soon as possible

Simply Education is working in partnership with a well-established specialist Secondary SEMH provision in Crewe to recruit a dedicated and resilient teacher with QTS for a nurture provision.

This role would particularly suit a primary-trained teacher who has experience working within a secondary setting, especially someone confident in delivering a nurture-based, holistic approach to learning.

About the School

The school is a specialist provision supporting secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Many pupils have experienced disrupted education and require additional pastoral support to successfully re-engage with learning.

The setting offers:

  • Small class sizes with high staff-to-student ratios
  • A strong focus on therapeutic and trauma-informed practice
  • A structured but nurturing environment
  • A personalised curriculum tailored to meet individual needs
  • A dedicated pastoral and behaviour support team
  • A clear focus on preparing pupils for life beyond education

Staff work collaboratively to ensure consistency, stability and positive relationship-building are at the heart of the provision. The leadership team is supportive and committed to staff wellbeing, recognising the importance of supporting those who support the pupils.

The Role

The successful teacher will deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The teacher will be confident teaching a range of subjects including Health & Social Care, Humanities, Careers Education and other foundation subjects as required.

Working within small classes, the teacher will create a safe, structured and supportive environment that helps pupils re-engage with education and develop emotionally as well as academically.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working as a secondary teacher
  • A strong understanding of nurture principles and trauma-informed practice
  • Excellent behaviour management skills
  • The ability to build positive, consistent relationships

We welcome applications from an experienced primary teacher with secondary exposure, or a nurture-focused teacher with a strong pastoral background.

The school is seeking a committed teacher who is passionate about making a meaningful difference to young people's lives.
