PE Lead - SEN School (Hanley) | September Start

Full-Time | Potential for a Permanent Role | QTS, UQT, or Instructor Applications Welcome

Are you a passionate and dynamic PE Teacher, Sports Instructor, or Unqualified Teacher looking for a rewarding role in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) setting? We are seeking a dedicated PE Lead to join our supportive team in Hanley from September 2025. This full-time position offers the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive Physical Education lessons to students aged 6-19 with autism and additional needs.

  • Deliver a small number of other subject lessons as required.

  • Organise and lead off-site sports activities such as swimming, horse riding, and trampolining (activities are led by qualified instructors at external venues).

  • Plan and complete risk assessments for all PE and off-site activities in line with school policies and procedures.

  • Ensure health and safety is prioritised in all lessons and activities, both on and off site.

  • Adapt lessons to be inclusive and accessible for all pupils, in particular those with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants (TAs) and the wider team to provide consistent and effective pastoral support.

  • Participate fully in school life, including lunch and break duties, as well as undertaking other reasonable duties associated with the role.

  • Build warm, nurturing, and professional relationships with students.

  • Drive school vehicles (9-seater MPV and estate car) - a full UK driving licence is essential.


Essential Requirements:

  • Experience delivering PE to children or young people.

  • Understanding of or willingness to learn about special educational needs, particularly autism.

  • Ability to plan, deliver, and assess safe and accessible physical activities.

  • Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Full UK driving licence.
