Simply Education is working closely with a brand-new PMLD specialist school in Derby, opening this April, to appoint a Primary Teacher to join their founding team.
The school will support pupils aged 7 to 16 with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). While pupils are secondary-aged, learning is delivered through a primary-based curriculum, making this role ideal for a primary-trained teacher with a passion for SEND.
About the role
- Teaching a highly adapted primary curriculum to pupils with complex learning needs
- Creating a calm, nurturing and engaging learning environment
- Working closely with teaching assistants, therapists and families
- Supporting pupils with communication, physical and medical needs
What we're looking for
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - Primary
- Experience working with SEND, PMLD or complex needs (desirable, not essential)
- A patient, flexible and child-centred approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
- Satisfactory professional references
