Psychology Teacher - Southend-on-Sea
Location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex
Contract Type: Full-time, permanent
Salary: Competitive, in line with MPS/UPS (£28,800-£48,000 per annum, dependent on experience)
Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and dedicated Teacher of Psychology to join a high-achieving secondary setting in the Southend-on-Sea area. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic educator who is committed to delivering high-quality teaching and inspiring students to develop a strong interest and understanding of Psychology.
The successful candidate will teach Psychology across relevant Key Stages, with a particular focus on examination classes. You will be part of a supportive and forward-thinking department that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Psychology lessons that meet curriculum and examination requirements
Teach Psychology across KS4 and/or KS5, depending on experience
Monitor, assess, and report on student progress, setting high expectations for achievement and behaviour
Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of learners with a range of abilities
Contribute to curriculum development and the ongoing improvement of teaching resources
Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and support departmental goals
Participate fully in school life, including meetings, parents' evenings, and enrichment activities
Person Specification
A degree in Psychology or a closely related subject
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards it
Strong subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for Psychology
Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
