SEN Teacher
Location: Royston, Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border
Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 (M1-UPS3)

Reporting to: Head of School
Hours: Permanent, full-time (40 hours per week)

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled SEN teacher to join our team, focused on delivering high-quality education that prepares young people for adulthood. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons within a meaningful curriculum tailored to learners' needs. As the school grows, career development and progression opportunities may be available for the right candidate.

Main Purpose:

To provide high-quality teaching and learning to young people with severe, profound, and multiple learning difficulties, as well as complex needs including ASD.

Requirements:

  • PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training (essential)
  • Understanding of the SEN Teacher Standards and expectations
  • Knowledge and experience of SEN learning, particularly sensory-based curriculums
  • Positive team working, contributing to an established team
  • Accuracy in assessing, reporting, and recording progress
  • The ability to guide and direct other adults in the classroom
  • The role may require participation in physical intervention and personal care routines

Key Duties of a SEN Teacher:

  • Contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, considering the educational, physical, and social needs of students.
  • Work with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Maintain and use short, medium, and long-term plans when delivering lessons.
  • Set, monitor, and review personalised targets to improve learning.
  • Monitor, assess, review, and report on student progress to parents, team members, senior staff, and funding bodies.
  • Maintain knowledge through training and research where appropriate.
  • Develop lesson plans with reflection on outcomes.
  • Attend and contribute to all relevant meetings and maintain good communication with staff.
  • Contribute to the review of Statements, EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews.
