SEND Class Teacher

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and resilient SEND Class Teacher to join specialist SEND schools and alternative provisions across Northamptonshire. You will be responsible for leading a class of pupils with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, ASC, PMLD, and complex needs, and making a meaningful difference to their learning and development.

This role is ideal for an experienced SEND teacher or a mainstream teacher with a strong commitment to inclusive education who is ready to take on a specialist class-based role.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, highly differentiated lessons tailored to individual SEND needs

  • Lead a class of pupils with EHCPs, ensuring personalised learning targets are met

  • Create a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment

  • Implement positive, trauma-informed behaviour strategies and emotional regulation support

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals

  • Monitor progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to reviews and reports

  • Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development



The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • QTS/QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching pupils with SEND (SEMH, ASC, PMLD, or complex needs)
  • Strong behaviour management skills with a calm and consistent approach
  • The ability to adapt teaching to meet diverse and complex needs
  • Resilience, patience, and a genuine passion for SEND education
  • A DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
