About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Sociology Teacher to join our successful Social Sciences department. The ideal candidate will have a passion for inspiring students, a strong understanding of sociological theory and research methods, and the ability to deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons across Key Stage 4 and/or Key Stage 5.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Sociology that challenge and motivate students.
Contribute to curriculum development and assessment design.
Track student progress and provide constructive feedback.
Support students in preparing for internal and external examinations (e.g., GCSE/A Level Sociology).
Participate in departmental meetings, training, and wider school life.
Foster a positive classroom environment that promotes curiosity, critical thinking, and respect.
Person Specification
Essential:
A relevant degree in Sociology or a related subject.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Experience teaching Sociology at GCSE and/or A Level.
Excellent subject knowledge and communication skills.
Commitment to inclusive and evidence-based teaching practices.
Desirable:
Experience teaching other Social Science subjects (e.g., Psychology, Politics).
Experience with exam boards such as AQA or OCR.
A proven track record of strong student outcomes.
