Supply Teacher - Secondary School (Colchester)

We are looking to appoint enthusiastic, adaptable, and committed Supply Teachers to join our welcoming secondary school in Colchester. We require supply staff to cover a variety of subjects across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities for day-to-day, short-term, and longer-term placements throughout the academic year.

This role is ideal for qualified teachers seeking flexible working arrangements, early career teachers (ECTs) wishing to gain valuable classroom experience, or experienced practitioners looking to maintain a healthy work-life balance while continuing to make a positive impact on students' learning.


The Role

As a Supply Teacher, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absence. Responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering pre-prepared lesson plans in line with the national curriculum

  • Engaging and motivating students to ensure effective learning takes place

  • Managing classroom behaviour in accordance with the school's behaviour policy

  • Creating a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment

  • Supporting pupils of varying abilities and learning needs

  • Liaising with teaching and support staff as required

  • Providing feedback to the class teacher or department on pupil progress and behaviour


The Ideal Candidate

We welcome applications from individuals who:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or have relevant secondary teaching experience

  • Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisational skills

  • Are flexible, reliable, and able to adapt quickly to different classroom environments

  • Have a professional, positive, and proactive approach to teaching

  • Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people

  • Hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or are willing to apply for one
