Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Meldreth, Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border

Overview

  • Salary: (£20,941.63 - £22,834.95 annual salary), based on experience and qualifications
  • Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term-time only (39 weeks a year)
  • Start date: April 2025

About the SEN School:


This SEN School is an independent, specialized day school dedicated to providing an exceptional learning environment for students aged 6 to 19 with Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), ADHD, and related challenges. With a strong emphasis on individualized support, the school cater to students with complex medical and sensory needs, helping them manage sensory overload, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and transition difficulties. Their well-resourced school offers a range of therapeutic facilities to support our students in achieving their goals and preparing for adulthood.

As this SEN school expands, they are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our National Autistic Society (NAS) accredited team, helping us create meaningful, positive outcomes for our students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support student learning and development across various settings, including classrooms, local environments, and the wider community
  • Assist students with PMLD, complex medical conditions, and autism in reaching their educational and personal goals
  • Promote a respectful and inclusive environment, focusing on equality, diversity, and the empowerment of all students
  • Embrace and demonstrate the values of Aurora in your work, continually growing your understanding of Special Education issues
  • Participate in physical intervention and personal care routines as needed

About You
We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Passionate and compassionate towards children and young people with additional needs
  • Eager to learn and committed to achieving formal qualifications through fully funded training opportunities
  • Ambitious problem-solvers, proactive, and able to work creatively
  • Supportive team players with excellent communication skills, especially in meeting students' unique communication needs
  • Visionary, focusing on potential rather than disability, and committed to Aurora's safeguarding values
  • Educated to at least Level 2 in Maths and English (or equivalent)
