Teaching Assistant - Alternative Provision School

Contract Type - Temporary to Permanent

Working Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm

Simply Education is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist SEMH school that prides itself on a highly therapeutic ethos. The school combines structured academic learning with emotional and behavioural support, ensuring pupils can re-engage with education in a meaningful way. Working Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team including teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to deliver a holistic and nurturing educational experience. The school follows a mainstream curriculum so people from a mainstream background who make a great transition into this setting, the school has carefully adapted the curriculum so its meets the needs of the students they support.

Your role will include:

· Supporting pupils to access learning through differentiated, mainstream curriculum pathways

· Building consistent, trusting relationships that promote emotional safety and regulation

· Applying therapeutic approaches such as restorative practice and trauma-informed care

· Supporting 1:1 and small group interventions focused on both academic and emotional development

· Helping pupils develop coping strategies, resilience, and positive behaviours for learning

· Managing and de-escalating behaviours through calm, reflective, and supportive responses

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who:

· Teaching Assistant Qualification Level 1,2,3 (desirable however not essential)

· Understands the importance of a therapy-led approach to education

· Is confident supporting pupils to engage with a mainstream curriculum

· Can build strong, professional relationships with pupils who may have experienced adversity

· Remains calm, patient, and adaptable in challenging situations

· Is committed to ongoing learning and reflective practice
