Job description
Role: Maths Teacher (Secondary Education)
Location: Tunbridge Wells, Kent
Key Stages: KS3 & KS4 (KS5 desirable, not essential)
Contract: Supply, Long-Term or Permanent
Salary: MPS-UPS / Competitive daily rate (dependent on role and experience)
Role Purpose:
To deliver high-quality Mathematics teaching to secondary school students in Tunbridge Wells, promoting strong numeracy skills, problem-solving ability, and a positive attitude towards Maths.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and effective Maths lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Teach across KS3 and KS4 (with opportunities at KS5 where applicable)
- Assess, monitor and track student progress, providing constructive feedback
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of learners of varying abilities
- Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies
- Contribute to departmental planning, meetings and school activities
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement and attendance
- Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies at all times
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching Maths at secondary level
- Strong subject knowledge and confidence delivering the Maths curriculum
- Effective classroom and behaviour management skills
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
Desirable:
- Experience teaching GCSE Maths
- Ability to teach A-Level Maths
- Experience working in UK secondary schools
- Flexibility and adaptability to different school environments
