Job description
Position: Psychology Teacher / Psychology ECT (Social Sciences)
Location: Braintree, Essex
Start Date: January 2026 (or sooner if available)
Contract Type: Full-time, permanent (or with potential to become permanent)
Key Responsibilities & Highlights:
Teach Psychology across Key Stages (including KS4/KS5) and contribute to a growing department.
Develop lesson plans that challenge and engage learners of varying abilities.
Foster a stimulating classroom environment and work collaboratively with a high‐performing team.
Opportunities for progression: experienced teachers may take on TLR roles (e.g., Coordinator), NQTs/ECTs supported with induction, mentoring and CPD.
Person Specification / Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, or in the process of attaining it.
Degree (preferably in Psychology or closely related discipline) and strong academic background.
Excellent classroom management and communication skills; ability to inspire students.
Able and willing to contribute beyond the classroom (enrichment, extra-curricular, curriculum development).
