Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant


Location: Royston, Hertfordhsire
Contract Type: Full-time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2025

Simply Education is currently seeking a resilient and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school. This full-time position is ideal for someone passionate about making a real impact on the lives of young people with additional needs.

🔹 Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH and additional learning needs
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour with a positive, therapeutic approach
  • Work alongside the class teacher to create a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Help students develop social skills, emotional regulation, and independence
  • Support the implementation of individual learning and behaviour plans

🔹 What We are Looking For:

  • Some experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH needs
  • High levels of resilience, patience, and empathy
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Full-time availability (Monday-Friday, term time)
  • A genuine passion for helping children succeed despite challenges

🔹 Requirements:

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one through Simply Education)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • References to cover the last two years of employment or education
