SEN Teaching Assistant - Special Educational Needs School

Contract Type: Full-time Permanent
About the Role:
Simply Education is currently recruiting for a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team at a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) school. This school provides a supportive and nurturing environment for children and young people with a variety of needs, including ASD, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and complex learning difficulties.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a real difference in children's lives, whether you're experienced in SEN or looking to transition from a care, youth work, or mainstream education background.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with a range of additional learning needs, both 1:1 and in small groups
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Help with personal care and sensory needs where necessary (full training provided)
- Monitor pupil progress and maintain detailed support records
About You:
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people with additional needs (formal or informal)
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a calm, consistent approach
- Is confident using a range of strategies to support learning and communication
- Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with staff, pupils, and parents
- Is adaptable and resilient, especially in a dynamic SEN setting
Essential Requirements:
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- 2 professional references
- Commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children
