The Role
As a teaching assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support pupils both inside and outside the classroom. The school supports pupils across primary and secondary age ranges, many of whom face challenges related to emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement with learning. The successful teaching assistant will help create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment where pupils feel safe and supported.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with SEMH needs in their learning as a teaching assistant
- Working with both primary and secondary pupils to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Providing one-to-one and small group interventions as a teaching assistant
- Supporting pupils during transitions and unstructured times such as breaks
- Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, and positive relationships
About You
The school is looking for a teaching assistant who:
- Is patient, calm, and emotionally resilient
- Has experience working with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour (desirable not essential
- Can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Is committed to supporting pupils' social, emotional, and academic development
