Salary: Main Pay Scale / Upper Pay Scale (Outer London allowance)

We are delighted to invite applications for a Teacher of Design & Technology to join our vibrant and forward-looking secondary school in the London Borough of Havering. The Design & Technology department is well resourced, with modern workshops and specialist equipment to support a range of disciplines, including Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, Engineering and Food Technology. The department benefits from strong leadership and a collaborative ethos, with staff working closely together to share best practice and continuously improve outcomes for students.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver high-quality Design & Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 where appropriate

  • Plan and implement engaging, creative and challenging schemes of work that inspire students of all abilities

  • Use a range of teaching strategies to promote independent learning, practical skills and technical understanding

  • Assess, monitor and track student progress, providing effective feedback to support improvement

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Design & Technology curriculum

  • Take an active role in extra-curricular activities, enrichment opportunities and school events

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching and learning

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or is currently training to achieve it

  • Has strong subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for Design & Technology

  • Can teach one or more specialisms, including Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, Engineering or Food Technology

  • Is committed to inclusive education and raising achievement for all students

  • Demonstrates excellent classroom management and positive behaviour strategies

  • Is reflective, resilient and eager to engage in professional development

  • Works effectively as part of a team and contributes positively to the wider school community
