Contract: Part-time

Salary: MPS/UPS (Outer London), dependent on experience

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join a forward-thinking and supportive secondary school in Romford. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire students through engaging, practical, and theory-based food technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a creative and ambitious curriculum that promotes healthy living, nutritional awareness, and essential life skills, while maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons in line with the national curriculum

  • Teach practical cooking skills, food science, nutrition, and food safety

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment in specialist food rooms

  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback

  • Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment activities within the Design & Technology department

  • Maintain high standards of health and safety in practical lessons

  • Support whole-school policies and contribute positively to the wider school community

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • A relevant degree or strong subject knowledge in Food Technology, Nutrition, or related field

  • Experience teaching Food Technology at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential)

  • Strong classroom management skills and a passion for practical learning

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills

  • ECTs are warmly encouraged to apply (full induction and mentoring provided)
