Job description

Maths Teacher

Location: Wirral

Pay: £130 - £150 Per day, dependent on payroll choice
Sector: Independent Special Needs School

We are looking for a dedicated Maths Teacher to join our team at an independent special needs school on the Wirral. This is a great opportunity to inspire and support students in building their mathematical skills, reengage with their education, and boost their confidence.

About the School:

This small provision caters for young people aged 11-14 who have faced disruptions to their education. The school focuses on rebuilding students' confidence and self-esteem through a multi-agency approach, combining academic support with emotional and therapeutic development.

With a capacity for 32 students (currently 12 on roll), the school offers small class sizes (3-5 pupils) and a high staff-to-student ratio. Students also take part in enriching activities such as horse riding, team-building, and vocational training in beauty and hairdressing, gaining life skills alongside their academic learning.

Your Role as a Maths Teacher:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Maths lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Help students improve their mathematical understanding, covering a range of topics and skills.
  • Provide support for students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs, creating a supportive and safe learning environment.
  • Differentiate lesson content and teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Encourage students to build confidence in problem-solving, numeracy, and mathematical reasoning.
  • Work closely with colleagues to implement personalised education plans for students.

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) with experience teaching Maths, preferably to students with additional needs.
  • A passion for helping students build their mathematical skills and confidence.
  • Strong communication, classroom management, and organisational skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to individual student needs.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff.
