Are you passionate about supporting young people to reach their full potential? Do you have the empathy, resilience, and commitment to make a lasting impact? We're looking for a dedicated and proactive School-Based Youth Worker to join a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Thetford.
The Role:
You'll work closely with students aged 11-18, providing targeted support to help them overcome social, emotional, and behavioural challenges that may affect their learning. Collaborating with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals, you'll help create a safe, supportive environment where every young person can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring for students
- Support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs
- Deliver workshops and interventions to build confidence, resilience, and wellbeing
- Work with teachers to promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning
- Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure joined-up support
- Help create an inclusive, nurturing school culture where every student feels valued
What We're Looking For:
- Experience working with young people in a school or youth work setting
- A calm, empathetic, and patient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to support young people through emotional and behavioural challenges
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Youth Work Level 2/3, Counselling, or Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
