Location: Northampton
Salary: Competitive, dependant on salary
Contract Type: Full Time, Part Time, Flexible Supply

Simply Education has an opportunity for a Science Technician to join our school based in Northampton. The role is to support the Science department supporting with practical lessons and assisting the Teachers with planning and preparation.

The Role:

  • Ensure that health and safety procedures are being followed during the lesson
  • To ensure the safe treatment and disposal of used materials, including hazardous substances and responding to actual or potential hazards
  • To be responsible for the appropriate storage and accessibility of equipment and materials in line with health and safety regulations
  • To monitor laboratory equipment ensuring that stock monitoring, rotation and appropriate purchasing is undertaken on a termly basis
  • To provide technical advice on health and safety issues to teachers and technical support staff
  • To ensure that the technical team is resourced, organised and developed to meet the performance standards required by the department, particularly practical support.

The right person should have:

  • Previous technical science/laboratory experience or school science environment
  • Good English and Maths skills, preferably to GCSE Grade 3 minimum or equivalent
  • Awareness of standard procedures e.g. titrations and making up standard solutions
  • Be reliable, flexible, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Have good organisational skills and attention to detail.
